With Turo Host Assessments for July quickly approaching (July 15, if you weren’t aware), let’s review what it takes to achieve the coveted All-Star Host status.
For a lot of new Turo hosts, getting to All-Star status as quickly as possible is one of their primary goals. Turo lays out the criteria for achieving this milestone pretty clearly:
- 95% Response rate
- 90% Acceptance rate
- 95% Commitment rate
- 90% Five-star ratings
- 10 Completed trips
But what can you do to actually hit these metrics and ensure your first assessment goes well?
Here are some tips!
Response Rate
- Be sure to keep your phone nearby at all times and respond to all guest requests in a timely fashion
- Turo tracks whether you respond to guests AND how long it takes for you to respond, so don’t delay
- Missing guest requests can make you seem unreliable
Acceptance Rate
Try your best to accept ALL requests when you’re just starting out (and since all trips are automatically accepted now, this really isn’t an issue anymore)
Commitment Rate
- It’s really important to honor all your accepted trips, which means you should not be canceling trips unless you have a dire emergency
- Canceled trips show up in your ratings via an automated message from Turo; if guests see these they’re less likely to book with you because you seem untrustworthy
- If you’re having trouble committing to trips, try adjusting your Advance Notice time in Trip Preferences, or change your available hours
Five-Star Ratings
- Ensure your guests have a smooth pick-up and drop-off experience
- Be courteous and prompt in all your responses
- Ensure your car is clean (inside and out) and in good working condition before the trip starts
- Be on-time whether you’re meeting the guest in person or leaving it at a pick-up location
- Be honest and up front if there are any defects in the car (just tell them if something isn’t working, don’t let them find it on their own; guests are usually understanding unless it’s something major)
Completed Trips
- If you do all of the above, you should be able to complete 10 trips in no time
- If you’re having trouble getting bookings, try lowering your rates, adding delivery, or expanding your available hours
Summary
If you treat your Turo business like a business then getting to All-Start Host status is pretty easy. Always think in terms of Customer Service and you won’t go wrong. Treat your guests like you would want a host to treat you – be courteous, be professional, be honest, be reliable. And always provide a clean, safe, and well-running vehicle.
Good luck to all the hosts awaiting their first badge!
