I told you guys previously that this blog crashed towards the end of 2023 and I re-started it around March of this year. I’ve been posting some older content that I thought was still relevant from the original site. These “Top Car” posts were NOT going to be included in that batch of posts, but people keep coming to the new site via old links looking for this content – so here it is. Take it as a starting point, or just a reference for what was popular when we first started in 2022. I will put together an updated list as soon as I can find some reliable data sources (RIP to CarSync).
Again – This is not current information! This is not current information! It’s just a historical reference that people continue searching for. Enjoy the look back!

Analysis
If you correlate these two lists and extract the top revenue generating models that aren’t one of the most listed cars on Turo you come to an interesting conclusion. Minivans are real money-makers that aren’t oversaturated on the platform at the moment. The Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna might just be the best cars to buy for your Turo business right now.
Also, if you’ve got deep pockets a Tesla Model X could be another good option to consider, as it’s also a top revenue producer without being a top listed car.
As always, I encourage you to do your own research.
Top 10 Turo Cars for NY/NJ (July 2022)
One of the most common questions I get asked personally and that I see posted around the web is “Which cars make the most money on Turo?” There’s no easy answer to this question as it totally depends on your market. It also depends on how good of a deal you can get on a car.
It doesn’t matter if a particular make and model grosses say $1200/month on average in your area if you over pay when purchasing one and have to spend $1300+ on the car note, insurance, maintenance, Turo fees and everything else.
On the flip side, if a particular make and model only averages $800/month in your area and you have one that’s already paid off, you could do pretty well just pocketing the net revenue.
I say this to illustrate the point that although there are tons of “top 10 best cars for Turo” lists, it really all depends on your exact situation. Your market could be oversaturated with top 10 cars and maybe you would do better finding something more unique. You should first identify the class of car you want to start with (economy, mid-tier, luxury, EVs, etc.) then start looking for deals on some reliable models. Turo’s Carculator is a good place to start your search.
Another good source of information is your Turo account rep. You’re required to schedule a session with one prior to listing your first car. They can provide you with information on which cars do well in your area. This is exactly how I identified the models I wanted to start with.
If you’re looking for data on top cars in the New York City area then you’ll have to rely on lists for New Jersey for now, since Turo just (fully) opened up in NY in late June. My Turo account rep provided the top 60 cars in New Jersey. I’ll share the top 10 and compare that to the top cars on the Carculator for NY/NJ/LI area. Let me know in the comments if you plan to start with any of these models.
